Somfy Group

keeping the hacker out!

An innovative internal communication campaign to raise awareness about cybersecurity. A thriller podcast format to engage and promote the adoption of good behaviors.

challenges:

  • How to effectively engage all 6,500 SOMFY employees on cybersecurity issues in the long term?
  • How to raise awareness, transmit best practices, and promote the adoption of good behaviors?

our approach:

As part of Cybersecurity Month, the SOMFY Group entrusted us with creating an awareness campaign for all its teams. We played with the codes of docufiction to engage and raise awareness among the Group’s employees. We crafted a techno-thriller narrative in the form of podcasts to follow an incredible character: Jack Stones, a formidable hacker who, from his prison, shares his greatest hacks. Immersive and thrilling stories to better understand cybersecurity, guard against attacks, and adopt good behaviors. An innovative communication strategy, but above all, an original and creative way to convey messages at the heart of the company.

why orality?

Since ancient times, orality has been the primary means of transmitting information. This mode of expression, around the fire or the totem, allowed for the transmission of essential knowledge. The act of storytelling, by engaging the imagination, narrative, and adventure, creates a different kind of attention while facilitating the dissemination and memorization of messages.

Today, the digitization of the work environment, as well as the acceleration of hybridization, has created a form of saturation in digital communication and has led to a need to rediscover orality and long-form engagement.

Podcasting is at the heart of these new oral usage trends.

goals:

The objectives were to engage, enhance understanding of cybersecurity, help employees guard against attacks, and above all, convey the proper behaviors to adopt.

Cybersecurity is often associated with geek/computer culture, whereas the majority of attacks require little technical knowledge and involve all employees. It is human vulnerabilities that are most often exploited. This is what we aimed to highlight in these 4 podcast stories.

All episodes were available on a dedicated web platform to accompany them with educational and practical information, as well as links to real cases of corporate hacking.

activation & results :

activation :

  • Plan in 2 languages (FR and EN):
  • Dedicated website, internal social networks (Yammer, intranet, and newsletter), internal blog and magazine “So!”, internal displays (offices, factory, break room, etc.), internal TV screens (50+).

results :

The objectives were to create an effective context for the transmission of educational messages, to generate interest while offering a playful and immersive experience. The system had to reach different profiles within the company, whether they were in positions or on production lines. The “On The Go” podcast format favored different consumption behaviors of information (on computers at the office, but also during breaks on smartphones or during transportation).

The system generated twice as much engagement as SOMFY’s usual internal campaigns internationally.

  • There were over 20,000 impressions of the messages on various internal social networks and intranet within one month.
  • There were over 2,300 complete listens in the first month alone.

Vigilance increased, and the first feedback and/or alerts have already been reported to the information systems department via a dedicated internal channel.
